Spasmodic Dyshonia or SD is a diagnosis that once heard is recognized. Treatment is however not as easy.
Speech therapy is often recommended at first. Then, once diagnosed, use of selective muscle block with Botox is used.
An EMG machine and a specialized needle is used in the outpatient clinic to instill small amounts of Botox, 2-3 units perhaps. Effects last 3-4 months and can be repeated.
